A sketchbook from the stream
More than two hundred animals from the streams that followed book 2, printed in the order they were drawn, so the book reads the way the stream happened.
A ground sloth sits next to a Jurassic crocodile. A pterosaur follows a dome-headed dinosaur.
Over two dozen animals get a feature spread of their own, a full-page painting facing a page about where the picture came from, with one of Joschua's pen-and-ink drawings beside it. Some of those stories come from stream guests, some from a photo that set the idea off, and a few are short fiction by guest writers Levi van der Veen and Iacovos Le Du.
Flip through the book
Joschua filmed this with the first printed proof, and talks through what's inside.
When you open this new book I want you to read it not as an educational volume, but one of exploration. I see paleoart not just as a tool to convey fossil data to a broader public but maybe more importantly a vessel to travel into lost worlds that exist in a constant shift, blurred by time and brought into focus by the imagination of the artist.
All three books, together
For the first time, all three Paleostream books are offered as a set. Books 1 and 2 are being reprinted in hardcover to match book 3, and the three come in a slipcase made for the set.
